Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson will be rebulided by Browns
The Cleveland Browns have gone from a weak-armed quarterback to a geriatric one by National Football League standards. At 28 years, 195 days, Brandon Weeden is the oldest player ever to be taken in the first round of the Common Draft era. Brandon Weeden is only 2 years younger than Ben Roethlisberger. He's the last quarterback taken by the Cleveland Browns in the first round.
Brandon Weeden has good size and great arm strength, but he didn't play in a complicated offense with the Dallas Cowboys, and will face a serious challenge learning a complex pro system. Also worth noting: He won't have Justin Blackmon to bail him out of trouble anymore.
Cleveland Browns selected Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall pick. Two hours after the Browns drafted Trent Richardson to become their new starting running back.
Weeden who will be 29 years old In October. Much has been made of Weeden's advanced age, but his ability to win games at Oklahoma State was strangely overlooked. In addition to big production, Weeden went 23-3 as a starter with the Dallas Cowboys, beating Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill along the way.
The Cleveland Browns have done such a great job in rebuilding the defense in the past two drafts that you want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll do the same on offense..
Raiders sign a contract with LB Philip Wheeler
Wheeler played 13 games for Indianapolis Colts 2011-2012 season, making 80 tackles and recording one sack. He played last seasons overall with the Indianapolis Colts with 182 tackles and two sacks.
The Oakland Raiders sign a one-year deal with unrestricted free agent Philip Wheeler on Friday to fill their void at starting outside linebacker.
Wheeler visited the Oakland Raiders on Thursday and agreed to the deal a day later.
general manager Reggie McKenzie said."We're elated to add another old player to complement our talented linebacking group, He gives us a lot of athleticism and versatility. He's a player that can do a lot of things."
A hole was created there earlier this month when the Raiders released Kamerion Wimbley. Wheeler is not the pass rusher that Wimbley is but is considered to be a better run defender, which is a big need in Oakland.
The agreement came hours after the Oakland Raiders filled another hole by acquiring backup running back Mike Goodson from Carolina for offensive lineman Bruce Campbell.
Goodson, who ran for 501 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with Carolina, became expendable after the team signed free agent running back Mike Tolbert earlier this month.
He was fourth on the depth chart behind Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams and Tolbert, so his leave did not come as a surprise.

The Raiders needed depth at RB after losing Michael Bush to Chicago in free agency. Starter Darren McFadden has been injury problem, missing 19 games in his four seasons and Taiwan Jones played sparingly as rookie.
McKenzie said."We wanted to got another player to compete at the running back position," "He can do kind of things in our scheme on attack. He's very universally, he has natural running skills, he's a great WR out of the backfield, and he has kick-return ability. I'm anxious to see if he can put all that together here as a Raider."
