I've spent my day today trying to help a man (some details of this story have been changed to protect his identity) who is mentally ill receive treatment which by the way is nearly impossible depending on the state in which you live. Even after repeated police calls, self mutilation, injuries to persons coming on the property no one wants to force this individual to receive treatment. Even his psychiatrist. What is it about people's desire to ignore serious situations that prevents anyone from wanting to help or to become invovled? Everyone complains but does nothing -- that is until a human being commits suicide or seriously injures another person.
